St. Petersburg Tarot Class Announcement!

I've been wishing to hold a class in Pinellas for some time now, and now my wish is finally going to be fulfilled!

I will be presenting a two-part class on the Tarot in September, which will include information on the history of this reservoir of Western Tradition Symbolism. The Tarot, far from being merely a system of divination, also unites many key components of various mythologies and religions and serves as a figurative bridge for the symbols which exist in both ancient and contemporary mankind.

Through an examination of the 78 cards which comprise the modern Waite-Smith Tarot deck, we will explore the many practical applications these cards have, including the various aspects of what we have come to understand as "divination".

Specific dates and times will be posted shortly, along with other details.

With the bunker nearly complete in its renovation, I'll be able to post more frequently than I have for the past six months. Which is nil.

Year 4 is over halfway through, and it's been a pivotal one indeed. The seeds for future growth have both been planted and have also seemingly planted themselves, which coincides with my recent thoughts on temporal continuity as a mutable phenomenon. Carroll wrote on this in Liber Kaos, but I won't bother referencing it in detail. Suffice it to say I've been rethinking a few of my previous assumptions.

Grant Morrison is one of today's most influential and accomplished aboveground occultists, and whether you agree with much of what he says or not, he's a great storyteller, and stories shape the world. This is part one of his lecture at the Disinfo Con a few years ago, and somewhere in his stream-of-consciousness style is some pretty intriguing substance.

Tarot class: Building into the year of "4"

As I mentioned in a previous Facebook entry, the year 2011 reduces to "4" in numerology, which is associated with materialization and, by extension, grounded, material concerns.

Now, I'm not interested in whether or not this is objectively manifesting in any sort of current, more that it serves as an inspiration to consciously attach that theme to this year, and reinforce the theme by convincing others. One of the best ways to convince someone of something is to demonstrate. Probably, the only real way.

Seven days into the new year I received a call from a woman who expressed interest in hosting an introductory class on the Tarot. She wanted the class a.s.a.p., promised to advertise, and set the price higher than I anticipated. The class was a success, attendance was better than I hoped, and as soon as the class was finished the woman was asking me about follow-up classes. So now I'm teaching a monthly class on the Tarot.

For the past several years I've approached many people with the pitch for this class, and very few people even pretended to be interested. Now my persistence is paying off, and I can't help but look for little coincidences like 2011.

I also "pushed" in the general direction and received some extremely favorable coincidences over the past month. So, 2011 is going to be the year that things start happening for me.
